The NAACP has been a source of hope, inspiration and strength for people of all colors since 1909, and the Norwich branch since 1963.
Our mission is to work locally to carry out the mission, vision and goals of our National Office. We will continue to serve the needs of the Norwich Community and surrounding area through advocacy in civil rights, education, healthcare, voter education/voter registration and community involvement.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a non-profit, 501 (c ) (3) organizations and the Norwich NAACP Branch is a non-profit subsidiary. We sponsor and produce educational and cultural activities which are at low cost or free to the public because of the support we receive through memberships, fund raising at our events and corporate sponsorship. Our goal is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination while making a positive difference in our community.
The Norwich Branch NAACP has received the First Place Class D -2007 , 2008 and 2010 Thalheimer Award which is the highest award given to Branches by the National NAACP Office.
